WSOPE 2009 is underway and the action at the tables is already heating up in the first half of event 1. The great thing about an event like $1000 No Limit is that it attracts the best of the poker talent in the world. So far the event has knocked out 499 players. The last 100 players will fight tooth and nail to make it to the money and try and win a seat at the main event. Currently the WSOPE event 1 chip leader is Carsten Girst with 29000. What is more interesting is seeing that Chris Ferguson is hard on his heels with 27000. Phil Ivey has just made the top 10 though he could be forgiven for only getting in at 10th so far as he has been playing some seriously high stake poker in the Full Tilt Million Dollar Cash Game last night. So Mr Ivey has managed a strong leader board position in the WSOPE and also managed a session win of $800k last night. Cases such as this prove the skill level involved in top level poker.
