Yesterday the US senate recieved a Bill from Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ).  The name of this Bill is the Internet Poker and Games of Skill Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act.  This Bill will give a framework for the governement to begin the regulation of online poker and skills games like poker and Majong.  The Poker Player Alliance is a non profit making organisation that has been peacefully lobbying for the rights of online poker players.  Their ranks have swelled to over a million members over the years.  This is what their chairman had to say on the new Bill.

“The PPA is pleased that Senator Menendez chose to introduce his bill to license and regulate Internet poker and include additional consumer protections. His continued support for protecting the Internet freedoms of poker players specifically, and Americans generally, is greatly appreciated," said PPA Chairman and former Senator Alfonse D’Amato.

As reported in previous articles on Poker Shark, the current ban is not working as it is estimated up to 10 million Americans are playing online poker.  You would have thought that their prohibition days would have taught them that blanket banning of this type is unrealistic, unpoliceable and a waste of time and money.
