Russia has recently had shock legislaton passed that does not allow gambling in Moscow.  Russian Poker has been growing in popularity over the years and there was panic among players that the game would come to a grinding halt.  Since the first of July the law came into force but luckily for the Russian Poker Players Poker is classed as a sport and not a game.  This means that through some carefully worded rebranding the Russian Poker scene can continue to thrive.

More Russian pro's are hitting the circuit than ever before, you only have to look at Vitaly Lunkin who has consistantly got bracelets and money at the WSOP.  Russia is proving to be a mighty poker nation.
