Barry Shulman was has just won an epic WSOPE Main Event battle to be crowned the 2009 Main Event winner. Shulman took home this morning £801,603 and Daniel Negreanu £495,589. Getting to final tables is a family trait with the Shulman's as Barry's son James is awaiting next months WSOP Final Table to start in Las Vegas. The main event table at the WSOPE 2009 saw two other November 9 hopefuls, Englishman James Akenhead and Frenchman Antoine Saout finishing in 9th and 7th respectively. Will Shulman senior be passing on tips on how to deal with these two finalists? We would!
It did feel at one point last night that the tournament was not going to finish as both Shulman and Negreanu fought bitterly to the end. The end being somewhere around 0530 this morning. A very tired, elated and coffee fuelled Shulman left the table with a big smile.
The calibre of this main event has been momentous and it was good to see some British talent finishing in the money. Devilfish just got in there and Teddy Sheringham had a really good tournament walking away with just over £40k.
