Jackson Zheng made history in New Zealands Skycity Casino over the weekend by winning the NZ Poker Open 2010 and pocketing $37,110.00 prize.  Having a local win the tournament really shows the ever increasing standard of poker coming from Auckland and builds on last years victory by fellow Aucklander Jamie Kristov .  The NZ Poker Open 2010 fielded 124 players and had a buyin of $1,100.  Zheng played a tight game throughout the tournament and it came down to a heads up situation with fellow Auckland player Kevin Clark.  Clark couldn't beat the pair of Queens and went home with a healthy $24,250.00.

This is the second year the NZ Poker Open has taken place and the field this year was slightly less than last time hence a slightly smaller prize pool.  I don't think Zheng will be complaining though.  The question to be asked now is does he take his winnings and catch the next flight to Vegas for some WSOP action or sit tight till the Skycity Poker Festival in September.
