The €1,000,000 first prize at the Berlin Leg of the European poker tour was won by American Online Poker qualifier Kevin Macphee. Unfortunately for this talented player who qualified for the event through top rated online poker room. Pokerstars, all of the Headlines went to four Armed Robbers that stormed the Main room in search of the prize pool.
The heist on the Grand Hyatt hotel in one of Berlins busiest districts was definitely something out of a story book as the men, dressed in black charged hotel staff in broad day light and managed to get away with the loot! At the time of writing, the gang which got away with around £150,000 have managed to evade the police but this surely will not be the final outcome.
Fortunately for all concerned, there were no fatalities but several players were reported as injured in the commotion. Macphee went on to beat a field of 945 players to take his first victory in the series.
