Event 2 of the 2009 WSOPE the $2500 Pot Limit Holdem/Omaha has nearly come to an end with Mat Gavatin in pole position with 448,000 chips at the end of day 2. This tournament fielded158 players and we are down to the final 5 players. The field was a tough one with the poker heavy weights coming in to sling their aces around. Surprisingly none of the of the big guns like Mr Brunson or Devil Fish made it anywhere of note in the tournament. When the runners whittled down to the final 8 a battle took place that saw Ian Frazer, Hoyt Corkins and Chris Bjorin leave the final table. Mat Gatavin won a large amount of chips knocking out Allie Prescott, Nikolay Evdakov and Michel Abecassis.
There was some heated discussion late last night as to whether they would play on to see who was walking away with the jewellery but in the end it was decided that play would resume at 2pm today.
This is how it was looking at the close of play
Seat 1: Men Nguyen -268,000
Seat 2: Mats Gavatin -448,000
Seat 3: Robin Keston -63,000
Seat 4: Richard Gryko -329,000
