It took Barry Shulman 17 hours of play in the main event of the WSOPE to claim what would have to be his sweetest of victories. Shulman from the USA has had a number of wins on the pro scene and prior to this event, his earnings were at $1.6m. By beating Daniel Negreanu in the early hours of October the 2nd 2009, Shulman will top that up by another £800k!

It will be a disappointment for Negreanu who hasn’t previously won at the WSOPE but when it came down to the winning hand, Negreanu was holding fours and Shulman tens. Negreanu was all in and on the flop came the ten of diamonds. There was no way back for the man from Canada.
So in the end, after 5 days of play, 341 players eliminated, the WSOPE is over for another year. Here at poker-shark.co.uk we believe it was the best yet with action, surprises and the biggest names  producing some exhilarating poker. Retired Barry Shulman (60) is inspiration to us all showing that age is no barrier on the poker table.
Barry Shulman                   £801,603
Daniel Negreanu              £495,589
Praz Bansai                        £360,887
