The EPT Pokerstars.com  Vilamoura Main Event has been won by Antonius Matias.  Any main event is stressful because so much is at stake.  The main event came staked with a massive prize pool - €1,561,700 Over the past 5 days 322 top players from around the world battled it out in one of the most glorious poker locations.  Portugal offers a fantastic setting for big money poker and Vilamoura is a hot spot for anyone who wants a good time in the Algarve.  It has some beautiful beaches and a port along with hot Portuguese women...... Sorry back to the poker, the heads up saw Portuguese businessman Antonio Matias face Pokerstars online qualifier Pierre Neuville.  Neuville has had some success at the EPT before now.  In April this year he came 9th in the EPT Sanremo € 5000 N/L Holdem giving him a massive €78,800.  The last 18 months has seen Neuville working hard to increase his standings in the game.

I think it is fair to say that Matias was feeling the home field advantage as he dug into the heads up.  Neuville wouldn't allow Matias's commanding chip lead to force him into playing cards he didn't want to.  Matias soon realised that he wasn't going to watch the football match he had been planning to see because this was  not going to be a roll over and die heads up.

Finally Matias put the tournament to bed with a full house.  The travel agent director will surely be taking some holiday now with his €404,798 win.
