Annie Duke is one of the biggest stars in modern day poker and showed this winning the National Heads Up Championship.  She has not won a significant tournament since 2004 when she bagged $2 million in the WSOP Tournament of Champions.  Annie has instead been focusing on her celebrity career which needs no real introduction following her stormy run in on celebrity apprentice with Joan Rivers.  She made history this week by winning the National Heads Up Championship.  This invitation only event saw only the best of the best play, with the exception of some minor celebs.  Sexy Poker hottie Vanessa Roussa came second which clearly leaves the men with some work to do next year.  Duke took home $500,000 from this tournament but more importantly she has stamped her authority back on the game,  Duke commented on her mindset earlier in the week while talking to ESPN.  Duke said that she had been allowing herself to think it was okay to lose.  Duke stopped these thoughts entering her game.  This attitude adjustment is bringing home the bacon!.

It's clear that the NHUPC has been uneventful compared with the European Poker Tour Robbery but it has done wanders for female poker.  The TV show will begin on the 18th April on NBC so tune in.
