Amer Sulaiman has won the Pokerstars.net LAPT Playa Conchal main event taking away $175,095.  This main event had 259 players and a buyin of $2500.  Not bad for spending four days off the beautiful Costa Rican beaches.  Poker in Latin America is growing rapidly in popularity.  Mainly because of major tounaments like this drawing in big crowds and ever increasing fields of players.   

More great poker is set to be played out on this LAPT.  Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure begins in the Bahamas in January and you can start earning your place now at the biggest Poker festival outside of Las Vegas, the tour then moves onto Uruguay in Feb, Chile in March and the Grand Final in Argentina.  Anyway enough thoughts of white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters lets look more closely at tonights action.....

When is came down to the heads up we were amazed at who was facing one another.  These characters could get more different if they tried.  Canadian, Sol Bergren is a self confessed travel junkie that has a chilled out surfer look about him.  Don't let that fool you as he is as sharp as a pointy stick.  He has finished in the money 3 times in the WSOP Main event.  It appears that Bergren spends his winnings on relaxing around the world.  Amer Sulaiman is a businessman in the Coffee trade.  It's convenient I guess that he as on vacation in the Coffee hot spot of Costa Rica when he bought into this tournament for fun.  The heads up was a cautious drawn out affair, take it from someone who was following it card by card.  I've seen less limping at a hospital.  This really indicates how badly both players wanted this scalp.  Bergren seems always the brides maid and never the bride but I think this young man will continue to come back and finish in the money.  As for Amer 'just on holiday' Sulaiman maybe he should now consider giving up the caffeine vice and taking up the cards on a regular basis.
