New Zealand Poker Open

Sky City NZ Poker Open
2009 saw the very first New Zealand Poker Open and here at Poker-Shark we were very interested to see how it panned out. The event takes place over three days in the country’s largest city, Auckland. Sky City Casino play host to the two day main event , which began this year, on Sunday 31st May (Queens Birthday Weekend)
Buy in for this Live tournament is set at NZ$1100 and with 140 keen entrants, the prize pool for the first event was a staggering $140,000! In the build up to the New Zealand Poker Open Main Event, Sky City offer several opportunities to qualify through satellite tournaments.
After such a promising start, we believe that the 2010 NZ Poker Open will be even better. We’ll be sure to update you when we know more but as anticipated, the standard of play was top draw in Auckland. A city with ¼ of the country’s population had ¾ of the representatives in the top four and it was local boy Jamie Kristov that took the first prize.
