Grosvenor UK Poker Tour
The Grosvenor UK Poker tour or GUKPT is one of the more accessible Live tournaments. Well, that is if you live in the UK of course (which we do!!) It takes place across the year at several Grosvenor casinos with the Grand Final in London Victoria. The first tour in 2007 had 10 legs and the first ever winner of a GUKPT event was Praz Bansi, winning £75,000 in addition to the Grand final place. Considering that this a pretty serious amount of cash, it's amazing to know that players can qualify through satellites with buy ins as small as £30.
The second year of any tournament is always going the real test but much like the Arctic Monkeys second album, it was a great success. So much so that they added in a tasty little event known as the Champion of Champions where yes, you’ve guessed it, only the leg winners are involved! The GUKPT NL Holdem Grand final in 2008 saw 184 entrants with Paul Foltyn netting £167,050.
We hope that the GUKPT sticks around for many a year and would recommend anyone to get involved. Remember that you don’t have to stake a lot to get an excellent experience.
