ANZPT

Pokerstars are going into overdrive on their domination of World Poker. Not content with Poker tours in Europe Asia, North & South America, they began sponsorship of the Australia & New Zealand Poker tour in 2009, the inaugural event.  Boasting not just players from this region, ANZPT 2009 included 1309 players across the 5 events.

The first event of the ANZPT calendar was in February 09 and was held in Adelaide, Australia. AU$170,215 was the prize for first place and this was taken by, Karl Krautschneider . An outstanding performance saw him scoop first prize from a top field of 215 players.
The ANZPT Main event was fantastic viewing and couldn’t be held in a nicer location. The Gold Coast, Queensland was the destination for the first ANZPT finale and it was an Aussie from NSW that took the big payday after the 4 day session. Scott Kerr, a card dealer by trade, did his country proud when pitted against Kiwi Phillip Willcocks. It was a field of 249 players for the AU$2500 buy in event, and Kerr was celebrating big time when he took the $168,075 prize.
The Australia & New Zealand Poker tour (ANZPT), season one, should be considered a massive success. With a great turn out and some seductive play over the six months, it’s definitely one that’s worth tuning into if you don’t fancy a go yourself! See below for the winners of all 2009 events:

Qualifying for the ANZPT is easy (he says!) but as you would expect, it is required that you have a Pokerstars account. This is by far and away the largest online poker room with more players on their network than any other. Just remember to read our review and make sure that Pokerstars is what you are looking for before booking your flights to the next ANZPT!
