The Asian Poker Tour (APT) was only launched in 2006 but is fast becoming big news across the world. Originally owned by Singapore based company Capital Events Pte, but in 2008 was taken over by AsianLogic, with Capital Events still retaining shares in the company, as well as decision making over key poker events in Singapore. The Korean Professional Poker Tour (KPPT) also holds shares and provides a partnership for their base in Korea.
The Asian Poker Tour holds Major Poker Tournaments in large cities throughout the Asia-Pacific region – Singapore, Manila, Seoul and Macau which has become a strong base.
After the takeover, the Asian Poker Tour launched two tournaments in 2008, based in Manila and Macau. Plans to add more dates and destinations look likely for 2009, with Manila having just held their tournament in Jan/Feb.
The past winners of the APT include:
APT Philippines 2008: David Saab USD$280000.00
APT Macau 2008: Yevgeniy Timoshenko USD$500000.00
